Netherhall STEM careers fair for girls – call for speakers
Speakers wanted! Your chance to inspire the next generation of scientists…
9th November 2015, 6.45-9.00 pm, at Netherhall School, in Cambridge
We have an event coming up in November which will give schoolgirls, aged 13-18, the opportunity to hear first-hand from girls and women who are either studying or working in science. We need 6-8 speakers, for just a 5-minute slot each, who can talk passionately about what they do, how they got there and why they love it.
You could be (or know someone who is):
- An A-level student studying science subjects or maths
- An undergraduate studying science, engineering, IT, maths etc
- Someone in their first or second job after school or university, including apprentices
We’re particularly keen to put across the fact that you don’t have to study for a PhD to pursue a career in science and engineering.
It’s important that our panel of speakers is well-balanced in terms of fields of study/career and career stage. This means that we will not be able to say yes to everyone who offers their services, but we will also need people on the night to mingle and chat informally with the girls, so you’d still be very welcome to attend in that capacity.
If you are interested, or know someone else who might be, please contact Claire Lucas, claire@girtoninfo.com
Please spread the word! Thank you.
