We are pleased to support the professional development of women in STEMM again this year through our Mentoring programme.
The CamAWiSE Mentoring Programme launched in 2020 as a pilot, and has run yearly since. The fourth cohort ran for six months, from June to December 2023. Anyone with an academic or a professional interest in STEMM applied, independent of their career stage, gender or location.

Nomathemba Ndlovu, Mentee.
Nomathemba is an Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Graduate.

In just one month of the mentorship program, I have experienced remarkable growth in both my career and personal development. When I joined the Cambridge Association of Women in STEM mentorship program, my main goal was to land a job in the science field. However, my journey with Agnieszka, my mentor, turned out to be much more enriching than I had anticipated.
Feedback: Working with Agnieszka has been eye-opening. Even though I had already secured a job by the time our formal mentorship started, her insightsand advice have proven incredibly valuable, especially beyond the realm of job hunting.

Agnieszka Rutkowska, Mentor.
As one of the coordinators of the mentoring programme, I expanded its reach to include Ukrainian women with careers in STEM, who needed support for their professional growth during the turbulent war times. I had the privilege of supporting Iryna in laying the foundation for her career in Cambridge, where she had to re-establish herself as a researcher after fleeing Ukraine.
It was a remarkable journey. I was amazed by Iryna’s extraordinary abilities and strengths. Our mentoring relationship was reciprocal; while I encouraged her to facilitate her research path by sharing my personal experience of successfully navigating the English career ladder, she invigorated my own decision-making process. This mutual empowerment has become the flourishing foundation of our friendship and future collaborations.
I am grateful to Iryna and all the participants who demonstrated their support and trust in CamAWiSE and devoted their time to inspiring each other throughout the mentoring scheme.
